First Day of School

So Parker started Kindergarden and Makenna started Preschool. They LOVE school. Parker loves riding the bus, math and Popcorn Friday. Makenna loves snacks, gymnastics class and "share day"
Since on Tuesdays and Thursdays Parker and Makenna both have school and they are at the same time, Breck usually takes Makenna and her buddy Cassidy to school, so I can take Parker to the bus stop. Darci picks the girls up so I can get Parker from the bus in the afternoon.
On Makenna's first day of Preschool, I was giving her hugs and kisses and she said, "Bye mom, I have to go to my school, stop kissing me!" Then when Breck dropped her off, he sat down by her just to make sure she was OK and not too scared and she said, "Daddy, this is Kenna's school, not daddy's school, bye!" Obviously, she is socially well-adjusted and very independent. Parker tends to be unsure of the unknown. He was a bit nervous that he wouldn't know how to get to his class or where the basketballs were for recess. He told me he figured out both on the first day, so now all is well.
****Note Makenna's bangs 3 MONTHS later!!!****

OK...I am back! Here it goes....

So lots has happened around these parts the last few months, so I will be posting a lot in the next couple of weeks. Let's start off with Makenna's lovely make-over that began our summer.

So it was a sunny afternoon and I was in the shower, only for about 5 minutes, and Makenna walked in the bathroom and said, "Mommy, Kenna did cut-cut." I didn't think I understood right since we hide our scissors on top of the fridge. So she repeated it again. I should have stayed in the shower and let it all sink in, but I reacted too quickly. So with shampoo in my hair I opened up the shower door and saw this....

Then, after I flipped out and kept yelling, "Why? Why? Why?" She kept saying, "Betuz I wanted too!" I didn't like that answer at all and kept saying, "why? Why? Why?" I sent her to her room and she started to cry, then she kept saying, "Kenna never cut-cut again" To this day, she still is afraid of scissors. Just a note: we were to have family and kid pictures that week...to this day, still no professional pictures.

I am so lame!

I know it has been a LONG time since I posted. I have been waiting to Breck to get our pics of the camera and onto the computer. He won't let me do it because there are several hundred pics and I don't categorize them right. He still hasn't done it but said he would sometime today or tomorrow. I have some fun pics including Makenna's first haircut, done by none other than herself! The past month and a half have been very busy for us, so sorry about the delay!

Why?

OK, so Makenna is my "why" girl. If I tell her something, no matter what it is, she always asks, "Why?" I used to patiently explain to her why I would be telling her what to do...but now I am tired. I am explanationed out (is that a real word?). Now I just say, "because I said so." (I swore I would never be that kind of mom that would just blow off the question). I guess I never knew how MANY times she would ask me that. So today, Parker asked me, "Why?" Makenna turned to him and said, "Be-tuz Kar-kar, Mommy said so!" I didn't even need to say it...maybe this will work out to my benefit!

Oh no...not Makenna

Yesterday, after church, I sat down to put my feet up. Makenna came over and took off my shoes. I was thinking, how sweet, then she starts spreading my toes apart and picking at them! She said, "Hold still, mommy, I get your toe jam!"

Tuesday, May 13, 2008

Ooohhh ya!

So lately, Parker has been totally obsessed with "toe jam" (And no...that is not a cute word for anything else). As soon as he walks into the house, he takes off his shoes and socks and picks the toe jam out of his toes. He even will put his socks on and then just minutes later, they are off again and he is back at it! One time, I saw him repeat that process 4 times...I guess he thinks that everytime you put on a sock, you get instant toe jam! A couple of days ago, he was wearing a new pair of socks and he took them off, got a BIG smile on his face and said, "Ooohhh ya, LOTS of toe jam!"

Mondays car conversation

So on our way to Parker's preschool, this is what took place. Makenna is an up and coming driver. She always tells me when to go or to go faster. Now that she has learned that red means stop and green means go, this is the conversation she and Parker had......
Makenna: Mommy, go faster...green means go, go, go, mommy go!
Parker: Makenna, what does red mean?
Makenna: "Kar Kar" red means stop (with her hand up)
Parker: Makenna, what does yellow mean?
Makenna: SSSSLLLLOOOOWWWW DDDDOOOOWWWWNNNN
Makenna: "Kar Kar" orange means slow down too!
Parker: No it doesn't...there is no orange light (he was totally annoyed)

****Then, we drive through a new traffic light where the yellow looks orange*****

Makenna: See "Kar Kar" Orange means slow down! (her voice many decibles louder)
Parker: Oh

It was silent the rest of the way! By the way, How come my kids even saw the orange light, I thought orange means to slow down, not to go faster!

Priceless moments

So recently, Parker has been very concerned about the "devil" as he calls it. He asks me all the time why the devil tries to get people to not be nice and "choose the wrong" He can't understand how he is not alive and never has been and how he can do that. So he asks me, "But why would people want to listen to him? Doesn't everyone want to be happy?" I LOVE THE INNOCENSE OF CHILDREN!!!

On another note. Parker has always been an AWESOME eater. A couple of days ago, he had finished all his dinner, as usual, and said "Mommy, I ate all my dinner, can I please have a plum for dessert?" Hmmm...Breck and I played it for a few minutes and then gave in. Makenna later said, "Kar Kar (as she calls him) thats not treat, that's a plum, silly."

2 minutes...OK?

Today, my sassy little Makenna was on the computer playing a game on Nickjr and I asked her to turn it off and she said to me. "Mom, 2 minutes...OK? Mommy go have quiet time." Needless to say, I gladly gave her MORE than 2 minutes..as long as I really did get quiet time!

Another Parkerism

So today Parker (being the tenderhearted kid that he is) said to me as he started tearing up and his lip was quivering..."Mom, I don't think I can be a dad (pause) I don't even know how to drive."
Just thought I would share...such a great kid!

I know my mom knew everything...but me?

So I have to share this. The other day Parker asked me a question and I was half listening (c'mon moms, you know you do this too). My answer to him was "I don't know, Parker" So he said, "But you are supposed to know everything....you are a mom!"

Yikes.....

Princess Makenna's 3rd Birthday

Here are some pics from Makenna's birthday....OK, so I know I am not an artist, but that was the best Barbie Princess cake I could come up with. The Barbie even sings 2 songs...how many people can say they have made a singing Barbie Princess cake? ;)

Butterfields have arrived in the bloggin' world!

So I have decided to commit myself to this because I can count this as my journal....right? At least I am going to convince myself of it! Life with the Butterfields is always one adventure after another. Let me give you some backround info on us. Breck and I have been blissfully married for almost 11 years...yes we are old farts! Parker is now 5, with a much older soul. Makenna is 3 and is quite sassy for her age. Almost 6 years ago, Breck opened up Butterfield Chiropractic and it is a dream come true. He loves what he does and does what he loves. I have the lesser paid position...MOM! Yes, yes, the blessings DO surpass any amount of money! In church, Breck is the Financial Clerk and Elders Quorum teacher and I am the Primary President. We live in Monroe, WA and Breck has created a beautiful haven in our yard and garden. Parker is in Preschool, but anxiously awaiting his time to ride the school bus this fall. Makenna is too busy causing trouble to even care about school, but her love for "girly" things like princess stuff keeps me in tune with my more feminine side. I look forward to writing about some of the smaller silly stuff that I will probably forget. I also look forward to hearing from you!
